The band starts in the winter of 1995, with the next line-up:
•  Rober! (guitar + vox) At the time on Reverb Lovers (a Cramps-Pussy Galore oriented band) & Bloom (Velvet-Spacemen 3 oriented).
•  Sergio Llanos (guitar + vox) At the time in Yogur.
•  Alberto L. Martín (drums) ex-Tupendos, ex-La Secta, ex-Question Mark, in Yogur at the time.
•  José Matilla (bass)
•  After a few months Igor Alvarez joins the band (alto sax, later tenor sax)

For the first months Atom Rhumba works as a secondary project without a permanent rehearsal place. The job of the band will be also affected by the continuous absences (a year between 1996-1997) of Rober!, who worked in Brighton for a year to ask for the “returned immigrant salary” when he were back.

5/25/96 They record their first single for Alehop! Records. The 7” includes the tracks “No Square” and “Bad Record”, and won't be released until a year later.

11/29/96 Their first show at “La Katrena” (Barakaldo). The crowd: Shocked and on their nerves because the excessive use of theremin.

In June 1997, they record the song “Calypso” for the Munster Records compilation “Punkin”. They also record “Lightning's Girl” for the Nancy Sinatra tribute released by Munster and “Party Dress” for the Alehop! Records international compilation “La Cagarruta Soníca”.

During the last week of November 1997, they record their first album “Hormonal Riot”.

In 1998 they win the “Best Basque Band” prize and the 2nd best national band in the “Villa de Bilbao” contest.

November 1998: The song “Switch On” appears on the Munster records compilation “Se acabó la tregua”.

March 1999: Gorka Pastor (La Secta) joins the band as an occasional maracca player.

During the last week of July 1999, they record their second album “Dirt Shots”.
---------------------------
August 1999: The track “Switch On” is included on the compilation of the Barcelona International Music Festival, BAM. In this event Atom Rhumba is the only national band chooses by the foreign promoters. The track “ Funky Town ” is included on Munster records compilation “Munster Records goes Hi-Fi”

December 1999: Rioja (ex-Munsterland, ex-Bongolocos) joins the band as Josi's substitute.

January 2000: They record “Mata La Música Disco” for a tribute record to Eskorbuto (The legendary Spanish Punk band) for a madrilian record label and “Evil Hearted Ava” for a tribute record to the Flamin' Groovies on Safety-Pin Records.

October 21 st : Javi (ex-Zein) joins the band as bass player as Rioja's substitute.

Between December the 2 nd and the 12 th , they record their third album “Chasing The Onagro” with Mick Collins (Gories, Dirtbombs...) on the production.

January 2001: They recorded the song “Downtown” for a tribute record to Johnny Thunders released by Munster Records later that year.

May 2001: Natxo Beltrán is the new drummer. “Chasin' The Onagro” is released in France by the legendary label Skydog Records with big success on sales. They also get a big crowd affluence on the tour they make on the neighbouring country that year .

April 2002: Alvaro Segovia joins the band playing guitar as Sergio's substitute.

December 2002: Jose Maria Gonzalez joins the band as tenor sax player for the live gigs.

In august 2003 they record their last album “Backbone Ritmo” produced by Kaki Arkarazo. The advancement single is “Gone” which includes two remixes from Josetxo Anitua (Cancer Moon) and Guillermo Piccolini (Venus, Pachuco Cadaver).

December 2003: Iñigo “Firehead” (Mermaid, Basque Country Pharaohs) join the band as keyboard and maracca player.

11-20-2004: They record two covers: Blank Frank (Brian Eno) and Mother Earth (Gun Club) for Alehop! records and El Besto records.
